STEM
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
The acronym STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. This approach to education is designed to incorporate these subjects into the regular curriculum to help our students gain the skills required to succeed in today's challenging world. STEM education attempts to engage children by encouraging an inquiry-based curriculum that is driven by problem-solving, discovery, and collaborative learning.

I live in Newington with my husband, 3 beautiful daughters, a happy black Labrador Retriever, and 3 cuddly rabbits. With the exception of winter, I love being outside as much as possible gardening, playing golf, reading, or hiking. I've been a West Hartford Educator for over 29 years and was the first West Hartford Teacher of the Year (1999) from Smith School when I was a second grade teacher. Even when I am not at Smith, I love to notice, wonder, and explore!
